The fisherman at the lodge loved to hear about these schools of permit we saw

Dive Journal: The first dive this morning takes us back the Elbow. It is a good first dive because of the chance to see some big critters early in the morning, and because its profile is a little deeper than other dives.

However, there is maybe even less sunlight this morning than our last dive here, and we again spend most of the dive drifting midwater scanning the hazy blue bottom 30-50 feet below us. We also spend a lot of time checking the midwater for critters, sharks, etc., but again we don’t see much here. Oh well, that’s the way it goes sometimes.

At the southernmost point, we again drift over some huge black groupers at cleaning stations. We do come across an interesting school of parrotfish, with two horseeye jacks swimming sideways right in the middle of them. Weird. On exit, we also see a skittish school of dozens of permit, vectoring by around 70 feet down.
