Made it to Florida

Made it to Florida.  It is soupy hot with a constant threat of thunderstorms.  So far, it appears that the days usually start out decently, with maybe a few rain cells moving through.  Then, every afternoon the storms roll in.  On days when we plan to ride 50 miles, that may not be too big a deal, but on days when we plan to ride 70 or 80 miles, we’ll get deluged for sure.

Winds have been primarily from the east or northeast, at least.  We’ll be riding SSE and then S and SW, so I hope the winds stay where they are.  There is a smallish tropical depression off Puerto Rico at the moment.  Hopefully that’ll be passed by the time we get going.

Linda and I are golfing daily.  So far 2 rounds on the PGA Village Wanamaker course and 1 on the PGA Village Ryder course.  The transition from AZ to FL golf is always a tough one, but talking about golf is probably a topic for a different blog.  Less than a week to go to start the ride – I’m getting psyched.  I heard from Jack yesterday, who is finishing up his conditioning and will take a pre-ride rest for a few days before meeting us.
